Biography

Doug Burden rowed at Princeton, captaining the crew squad in his senior year. He later obtained an MBA from IESE in Barcelona. Burden rowed on three Olympic teams, winning a bronze medal in the eight in 1988 and a silver in the four in 1992. He also rowed at the 1986 and 1990 Goodwill Games, winning a silver medal in the four in 1986. Burden competed at five World Championships (1986-87, 1989-91), highlighted by winning gold in the eight at the 1987 Worlds. He also won a 1986 World bronze in the four.

Burden became a financial advisor, later working as a vice-president at Fiduciary Trust Company in Boston. While he was rowing, he worked with the Student Loan Marketing Association from 1991-93. Burden was inducted into the US Rowing Hall of Fame in 1998.
