Biography

Carl Lovsted made the 1952 Olympic team as a member of the University of Washington four. He had attended Franklin High School in the Seattle area, and would later graduate from Washington with a degree in business. While rowing for the Huskies, he was on the 1950 eight that won the IRA Regatta, and the 1951 crew that finished second to Cal at the same race. He settled in the Seattle area, starting a career in insurance with his own firm, working in that field for over 40 years. He later sold the firm to his son, which later merged with another to become the Lovsted-Worthington Insurance Brokerage.
