Biography

Gaetano Curcetti was an Italian boxer. Coming from a family of boxers, including brothers, cousins, grandchildren and children, Gaetano never turned professional, preferring to devote himself to training in the Curcetti Boxing Academy founded in Foggia in 1976.

After obtaining two Italian titles in the light-flyweight class, he competed at the 1972 München Olympics. In his first bout he faced Singapore’s Syed Abdul Kadir. Curcetti dominated the first two rounds, but in round three a head butt inflicted a bleeding head wound on Curcetti and the referee stopped the fight and awarded the bout to Kadir.
