Biography

Jacques Reymond spent his life dedicated to training and coaching skiers whilst working at the Swiss Ski Association. Reymond joined the organisation in 1979 where he started out as a fitness coach for women in Alpine skiing, working with them until 1987. He then worked with the men’s team before becoming the Ski World Cup head coach from 1993 until 1995. During his time with Swiss Ski he also worked as the course setter for the combined event at the 1988 Calgary Olympics.

In 1987 the Swiss women dominated the Ski World Cup, taking the top-five places with Reymond coaching Maria Walliser, Michela Figini, Vreni Schneider, Brigitte Oertli, and Erika Hess. A year later he and Hess became husband and wife, with the couple having three sons. The pair continued to support young skiers by organising races and training camps for them. He later provided his support for Lausanne’s bid to host the Winter Youth Olympics, which they did in January 2020. Towards the end of his life Reymond also dabbled in politics and served as the President of his local municipal council.
