After obtaining a bachelor of education from the University of Saskatchewan in 1970, William “Kent” Stuart spent the next 30 years teaching with Regina Public Schools. Following his retirement Stuart still maintained his passion in teaching where he worked in outdoor education. As well as teaching, Stuart’s other passion was ice hockey with him playing in Canada’s Western Hockey League. He moved on from playing the game to officiating matches including several fixtures at the 1980 Lake Placid Olympics. Stuart later held the post of referee-in-chief of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League.
