Austrian weightlifter Franz Aigner won the silver medal at the 1924 Paris Olympics in the unlimited heavyweight class. The previous year he also won the World Championships in the same weight division, having won the silver medal in 1920. Aigner came second at the 1922 German Fighting Games. Domestically, Aigner was runner-up in the heavyweight class at the 1919 national championships and won the title in 1920 and 1921. After failing to qualify for the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics, he retired.
