Sevdalin Marinov had the following podium finishes at major championships: 1st in the 1988 Olympics Flyweight class (270.0 kg); 1st in the 1985 World Championships Flyweight class (252.5 kg); 1st in the 1986 World Championships Flyweight class (257.5 kg); 1st in the 1987 World Championships Flyweight class (262.5 kg); 1st in the 1985 European Championships Flyweight class (250.0 kg); 1st in the 1986 European Championships Flyweight class (245.0 kg); 1st in the 1987 European Championships Flyweight class (260.0 kg); 1st in the 1988 European Championships Flyweight class (260.0 kg); 2nd in the 1989 European Championships Bantamweight class (280.0 kg); 1st in the 1990 European Championships Bantamweight class (265.0 kg). He set three world records – two in the snatch and one in the total.
