Abdel Qader El-Touni

Abdel Qader El-Touni began his weightlifting career as a lightweight after World War II and first represented Egypt at the Olympics in 1952, where he was sixth among a field of 24 entrants. He then switched to the middleweight division and had his greatest success at the 1959 Mediterranean Games, where he won that category. He was then selected to represent Egypt (at the time competing as the United Arab Republic with Syria) at the 1960 Rome Olympics, but he quit the competition after the first round and thus did not place. He retired from active competition shortly after these Games.
