Valerios Leonidis had the following podium finishes at major championships: 2nd in the 1996 Olympics Featherweight class (332.5 kg); 2nd in the 1994 World Championships Featherweight class (325.0 kg); 2nd in the 1995 World Championships Featherweight class (327.5 kg); 3rd in the 1999 World Championships Lightweight class (340.0 kg); 2nd in the 1993 European Championships Featherweight class (312.5 kg); 2nd in the 1994 European Championships Featherweight class (317.5 kg); 2nd in the 1995 European Championships Featherweight class (322.5 kg); 1st in the 1996 European Championships Featherweight class (312.5 kg); 2nd in the 1998 European Championships Middleweight class (360.0 kg); 3rd in the 1999 European Championships Lightweight class (340.0 kg). He set five world records - two in the snatch, and three in the clean & jerk.
