Biography

Pakistani weightlifter Malik Arshad competed in the middleweight category during the 1970s. At the 1972 München Olympics Arshad finished in 19th place and had the honour of being the nation’s flagbearer at the Opening Ceremony. Two years later he won the bronze medal in the clean and jerk at the Asian Games in Tehran. Arshad returned to the Olympics for the 1976 Games in Montréal where he finished in 15th place. The same year he won gold at the Asian Weightlifting Championships held in Bangkok.
