Biography

Both Guy Marchand and his twin brother started wrestling at a very young age at Sporting Club Dijon, which had been co-founded by their father. Marchand was a good wrestler in both Greco-Roman and freestyle wrestling. He won French titles in the lightweight class in freestyle (1967-70) as well as Greco-Roman (years unknown). In 1968, he also competed in both classes at the Mexico City Olympics. After his active career, he remained involved in the sport, as a treasurer of the French wrestling federation and in local sports administration. By profession, he was a real estate agent.
