Biography

Rajmund Badó started his sporting career as a wrestler in 1921 under his original name, Badovecz, which he changed to Badó in 1924. At the European Championships he finished second in 1925, and then won in 1927. Badó won a bronze medal at the 1924 Paris Olympics in Greco-Roman heavyweight. Badó was a five-time Hungarian champion, always competing as a heavyweight. In 1934, Badó again won a European Championship silver medal. He retired in the same year and went abroad to become the coach of the Egyptian national wrestling team and, in 1937, he prepared the Japanese Olympic team for the planned Olympics in Tokyo. In the 1950s he moved to the United States where he died in New York.
