Biography

The winner of the women’s boardsailing at the Olympic Games in Barcelona, Barbara Kendall is the only New Zealand woman to have competed at five Olympics. In 1996 in Atlanta, she won the boardsailing silver medal and added the bronze in Sydney in 2000. In 2004 in Athens, Kendall was fifth and she was sixth at the 2008 games in Beijing. She is the younger sister of 1988 gold medallist Bruce Kendall. She was the New Zealand flagbearer in Atlanta. Barbara Kendall was the Oceania athletes’ representative on the International Olympic Committee from 2005 to 2008.
