Biography

Sándor Burger won several Hungarian championship titles as a sailor, most of them alongside Tibor Heinrich. He was a member of the first Hungarian Olympic sailing team at the 1928 Olympics, competing in the 6m class. Their ship Hungária, built especially for the Olympics, later became one of the legendary ships of Lake Balaton. In the same class, he participated at the European Championship in 1934 when he finished 4th and in 1935 when he finished second. In 1933 he received a certificate of honor from the Hungarian Sailing Association. He was a lawyer by profession. In addition, before the Second World War, he was a board member of the Hungarian Yacht Federation and the Hungarian Auto Club.
