Biography

Ted Conant, who was from New Orleans, was the skipper of the yacht, Gallant which finished second to the Swedish boat in all six races of the 6m class at the 1932 Olympics. Conant’s career was with the McDonnell-Douglas Corp. He eventually rose to be senior vice president and vice chairman of that company and during World War II he was responsible for the almost immediate build-up that enabled McDonnell-Douglas to produce 30,000 aircraft for the war effort.
