Biography

Helmut Haid competed at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics in the 400 hurdles. He also competed at the 1962 and 1966 European Championships. Haid set 15 Austrian records and his best mark of 51.11 in 1972 remained the Tyrolean record through the 2010s.

Haid won 18 Austrian titles, at 400 metres (1962, 1968), 110 hurdles (1963-64), 200 hurdles (1961-64), 400 hurdles (1961-65, 1967-69, 1971-72), and 4x400 (1964). He also won 67 Tyrolean Championships. Haid was later instrumental in campaigning for the new track and field stadium Tivoli-New.

Personal Best: 400H – 51.11 (1972).
