Biography

Joseph Otterbeen was a Belgian middle-distance runner who represented K. Tubantia F.C. Otterbeen won his first major race in 1919 with victory in the 8km Tour of Bruges. The following year he focused on the 5,000 metres, finishing in sixth place at the national championships, before winning races in Liège and Luxemburg. His performances earned him a place on the Belgian team for the 1920 Antwerpen Olympics where he was part of the 3,000 metres team race. The Belgian quintet, however, finished in last place in their heat and were eliminated.
