Biography

Czech track and field athlete and wrestler Miroslav Šustera represented CKS Praha. Šustera finished in seventh place in the Greek-style discus throw at the 1906 Intercalated Games, where he also competed in the standard discus throw and the pentathlon.

Two years later Šustera competed in the two discus disciplines at the 1908 London Olympics, but his distances in both events were not recorded. As a Greco-Roman wrestler he fought in the light-heavyweight category but lost his opening bout to Great Britian’s William West. Šustera was also the flag bearer for Bohemia at the Opening Ceremony at the London Games.

Šustera finished in 38th place in the discus throw at the 1912 Stockholm Olympics with 31.83 metres. He was also scheduled to compete in the hammer throw but did not start in the event. In July 1914 Šustera became the Czech shot put champion with a throw of 11.85 metres.

Personal Best: DT – 42.97 (1913).
