Biography

Born in Sweetwater, Texas in 1886 Tom Gallon later moved to Canada where he initially became a track sprinter. Gallon competed for Canada at the 1912 Stockholm Olympics where he ran in the 400 metres and the 4 × 400 metres relay. Following the Olympics he fought with the First Division, 16th Battalion during World War I, reaching the rank of captain. Gallon then worked for the Royal Bank of Canada stationed in La Habana, Cuba. From there he became a noted sugar broker, eventually becoming the President of the Sugar Sales Corporation. Gallon was inducted into the Greater Victoria Sports Hall of Fame in 1997.
