Biography

Mark Graham came to prominence as a junior runner in Canada clocking 46.94 at the age of 19 in 1992, earning a place in the Canadian 4x400 squad for the 1992 Games. He then attended the University of Nebraska and Kent State University. Considered almost a perfect physical specimen, ironically, Graham’s career was cut short by injuries. He ran his best ever time of 46.16 for the 400 in 1994, and was selected for the Commomwealth Games the same year, but was disqualified in his heat. After that he retired from athletics, joined the Canadian military and was based at CFB Petawawa. Serving in Afghanistan in 2006, he was killed by friendly fire from two US aircraft.
