Biography

In 1973 middle-distance runner Elfi Zinn won the silver medal in the 800 at the European Indoors. Three years later she won a bronze medal at the 1976 Montréal Olympics. Domestically she claimed East German indoor titles in 1973 and 1976, adding a relay title in the 4x800 in 1970, and a 4x400 relay title in 1974. In 1976 she set two world records in the 800 with 2:01.4 and the 4x800 with 7:54.2. Zinn was a trained photographer and worked for the Foreign Ministry in the former GDR until German reunification.

Personal Best: 800 – 1:55.60 (1976).
