Biography

At the 1980 Moscow Olympics Andreas Busse claimed the fifth place over 800 metres and the fourth over 1500 metres. He finished seventh at the 1983 World Championships over 1,500 metres and reached three European Championships finals: sixth in the 800 and fourth in the 4 x 400 in 1978, 11th in the 1,500 in 1982, and he was eliminated in the heats of the 1,500 in 1986. Busse also placed fourth in the 800 at the 1981 European Indoor Championships. He was East German champion in the 1500 in 1983, 1984, and 1986, placing second in 1981 and 1988. The educated machinery installer later married non-Olympian hurdler Petra Krug.

Personal Bests: 800 – 1:44.72 (1980); 1500 – 3:34.10 (1984).
