Biography

Axel Weber was a pole vaulter who competed at the 1980 Moskva Olympics, but did not reach the final. In the World Cup, he placed third in 1977, sixth in 1979, and fifth in 1981. At the European Cup he was seventh in 1977, sixth in 1979, and fourth in 1981. In East Germany he won national titles in 1976, 1977, 1979-81, also winning indoor in 1980-82. By profession, Weber was a precision engineer.

Personal Best: PV – 5.50 (1980).
