Biography

In the 1930s Carlo Girometta played for many clubs, but only seven matches in the Italian First Division, playing with Atalanta Bergamasca in the 1937/38 season. A striker, Girometta began his career with Piacenza Calcio in 1933 where, in the Second Division, he played for three years, appearing in 60 matches, and scoring 47 goals. With these results, Italian coach Vittorio Pozzo called him for the 1936 Berlin Games, but he never played at the Olympics. After Berlin, Girometta played for Brescia Calcio, Atalanta Bergamasca, US Alessandria, US Salernitana and finally, in the 1941/42 season, with US Sanremese. During World War II he was recalled for military service and was at the Russian front as a lieutenant of the Italian alpine troops in the Battaglione Val Chiese, Divisione Tridentina.
