Biography

Bohemians FC defender John Morris was one of the five non-travelling reserves for Ireland in the Olympic qualifying game against Netherlands at Portsmouth in 1948. A couple of months before the Olympic match, Morris played for a Bohemian Select XI in a charity match against English FA Cup holders Manchester United.

Morris was one of 17 children and two of his siblings, Frank and Paul (later known as Father John Francis after being ordained a priest in1952), also played for Bohemians FC in the 1940s and 1950s. Morris started his football career at University College Dublin (UCD) in 1945 prior to joining the “Bohs”.
