Biography

Ray Flynn was a middle-distance runner who ran the 1,500 at the 1980 Moskva Olympics and the 5,000 and the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. Flynn ran in college at East Tennessee State University where he earned All-American honors and placed second in the 1978 NCAA 1,500 metres, behind Steve Scott.

Flynn ran 89 sub-4 minute miles during his career, and helped an Irish team set the world record in the 4xMile relay in 1985 with 15:49.08, anchoring in 3:57.0. Flynn settled in Johnson City, Tennessee, where he attended college, but he has been director of the Millrose Games in New York since 2012.

Personal Bests: 1500 – 3:33.5+ (1982); Mile – 3:49.77 (1982); 5000 – 13:19.52 (1984).
