Biography

Donatella Bulfoni was a high jumper who competed in only two international meetings in Austria before the Montréal Olympics. She was coached by Sergio Zanon and called onto the Italian National team at only 16-years-old for the match Italy-Belgium in Jesolo. She defeated Sara Simeoni there and this had Bulfoni named to the 1976 Olympic team. After the Olympics, injuries hampered her and she missed the 1980 Olympics. She won a silver medal at the 1979 Mediterranean Games behind Simeoni, and placed 10th and 8th at the 1979 and 1981 European Indoor Championships, respectively. That year she also placed sixth at the Universiade but continual injury problems caused her to retire at age 22. Bulfoni earned 15 caps between 1976-81.

Personal Best: HJ – 1.91 (1981).
