Biography

Bettina Sabatini was an Italian middle-distance and marathon runner. Born in Denmark and coached by Cesare Manzotti, she competed on both road and track. Sabatini joined the national team in 1988, placing 20th in the European Marathon Cup. She ran the marathon at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, finishing 23rd. In 1994 she helped the Italian team win gold in the European Marathon Cup as part of the European Championships in Helsinki. Two years later she took her most prestigious individual victory, winning the Firenze Marathon. She was capped 6 times for Italy from 1988 to 1994. On the track her personal bests were 16:24.04 in the 5,000 and 34:29.41 in the 10K.
