Nestor Jacono was a Maltese sprinter who was the only athletics competitor for Malta at the 1948 Olympics. He attended St. Edward’s College, and won multiple national sprint championships. After his retirement from competition, Jacono started the Pegasus Club to give school children a place to train and compete. He also worked in sports administration positions, most notably with the Maltese Olympic Committee. In 2005, Jacono was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the Maltese Olympic Committee. Prior to his death in 2014 he was Malta’s oldest living Olympian.
