Biography

When she was 18-years-old Jannie van Eyck-Vos joined the Gooise Atletiek Club in Hilversum as a gymnast. Van Eyck-Vos soon switched to track and field athletics where she competed in the pentathlon and the javelin, becoming the national champion in the latter in 1956. By 1959 she had become a decent middle-distance runner, with her now focusing on the 800 metres. Three years later she ran in the event at the European Athletics Championships in Beograd but was eliminated in the heats. Despite this setback Van Eyck-Vos was selected to represent the Netherlands in the event at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics where she reached the semi-finals. She continued to compete in the 800 metres for a couple more years becoming the Dutch champion in the event in 1966.

Personal Best: 800 – 2:05.7 (1964).
