Biography

Dutch track and field athlete Toon van Welsenes competed in sprint events and the long jump for AV Haarlem. In his early career Van Welsenes was part of several quartets that improved the Dutch club record for the 4 x 100 metres relay before he went to focus on the long jump. He competed in the discipline at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics, finishing 17th with a best effort of 6.96 metres. In 1931 he became the Dutch long jump champion before winning another title in 1934.
