Biography

Wanda Panfil was a distance runner, best known as a marathoner, who ran the marathon at the 1988 and 1992 Olympics, oddly finishing 22nd both times. Her best years were 1990-91 when she won multiple major races, including the Nagoya Marathon, London Marathon, and the New York City Marathon in 1990, and the Boston Marathon and World Championships in 1991. She was world ranked #1 in 1991, after ranking #2 in 1990. Panfil also won the 10,000 metres at the 1990 Goodwill Games. In both years she was named the Polish Sportswoman of the Year.

Personal Best: Mar – 2-24:18 (1991).
