Szordykowski’s first major competition final was the 1,500 metres at the 1966 European Championships where he finished in eighth place. Two years later he represented Poland in two events at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics. He reached the semi-finals of the 800 metres, and finished in seventh place in the 1,500 metres.
