Biography

Gösta Bergkvist was a middle- and long-distance runner who was at his best in cross-country. He was Swedish champion in cross-country over 4 km in 1947 and 1948. He also won three Swedish titles in team cross-country from 1947-49. On the track Bergkvist won bronze medals in the 1,500 in 1947 and 1948 at the Swedish Championships. He helped his club team from Gefle IF Gävle set world records in the 4x1500 metre relay in both 1947 and 1949, and the 4x1 mile relay in 1949.

Personal Best: 1500 – 3:46.6 (1947).
