Biography

Swedish marathon runner Gustaf Törnros was a two-time national champion, winning the title in 1911 and 1912. Törnros also won medals in the 10,000 metres at the Swedish championships, with bronze in 1906 and silver in 1907.

Törnros ran in the marathon at the 1906 Intercalated Games where he finished in fourth place. Two years later at the London Olympics he finished in 21st place out of the 27 athletes to finish the course. At the 1912 Stockholm Olympics half of the competitors, including Törnros, failed to finish the race, which was infamous for being run in very hot conditions.
