Czechoslovak track and field athlete Karel Hoplíček competed in the discus and the shot put in the 1930s and 1940. Hoplíček participated in the latter at the 1936 Berlin Olympics where he finished 15th with a best effort of 14.12 metres. His uncle František competed in the discus throw at the 1920 Antwerpen Olympics and in the arts competition at the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics.
