Biography

In addition to her Olympic silver, Irina Beglyakova won silver at the 1954 European Championships, was fourth at the 1958 European Championships, and won the discus at the 1957 World Student Games. Beglyakova never won a Soviet title, winning silver in 1957 and bronzes in 1955-56 and 1958. Beglyakova was a medical student during her athletics career and later worked as a medical doctor in Moskva.

Personal Best: DT – 52.71 (1956).
