Biography

Competing at both high hurdles and long jump, Tatyana Talysheva was more successful at long jump, winning a surprising bronze medal at the 1968 Olympics in that event. Besides this Olympic bronze, Talysheva also won a long jump silver at the 1967 European Cup. In the 80 hurdles, Talysheva’s best finish at a major international was eighth at the 1968 Olympics. She also participated at the 1964 Olympics (LJ 10th), at the 1962 and 1966 European Championships (LJ 11th and 6th respectively), and the 1967 and 1968 European Indoor Championships. Talysheva won three Soviet titles – long jump in 1967-68; and 80 hurdles in 1968.

Personal Bests: 80H – 10.4 (1968); LJ – 6.66 (1968).
