Biography

Carol Cady was a weight thrower for Stanford and the Mazda Track Club. While at Stanford she won NCAA titles in the shot put in 1983 and with the discus in 1984. She was also TAC Champion in 1985-86 with the discus. Cady competed in the 1983 and 1987 World Championships with the disc, and also represented the US internationally at the 1985 World Indoor Games, Universiade, and World Cup, and the 1986 Goodwill Games, in addition to her two Olympic appearances. Later a biomechanical engineer, she set seven US records in the hammer throw, before the event was practiced much for women.

Personal Bests: LJ – 16-8 [5.08] (1981); SP – 58-1 [17.70] (1986); DT – 216-10 [66.09] (1986); HT – 192-0 [58.52] (1988); JT – 159-10 [48.72] (1983).
