Biography

Marieke Veltman was a long jumper who competed at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. Veltman started out at Cal State Los Angeles but transferred to UCLA after her freshman year, eventually graduating with a degree in English literature. Veltman competed in both long jump and the heptathlon at UCLA, with her best finish in the NCAAs coming in the hep, when she finished third in 1993. At the USA Championships she was third in the long jump in 1996 and second in 1995. Internationally she also competed at the 1995 World Championships.

Veltman later married and became Marieke Miller. She settled in Palos Verdes, California, where she served as an assistant high school coach, worked in real estate, and as a real estate caretaker.

Personal Best: LJ – 6.88 (1996); Hep – 5,901 (1995).
