Biography

Gertrude Wilhelmsen competed only briefly in the discus throw, representing the Washington Athletic Club, as she was much better known as a softball player. In her native Tacoma, Washington, she was the star of the Tacoma Tigerettes as a shortstop and center fielder. She would later be inducted into the Tacoma-Pierce County Softball Hall of Fame.
