Third place in the 1,500 m in 1900 gave John Bray the honor of being the first Olympic medalist from Williams College. He also qualified for the 800 m final, but placed sixth. Bray eventually settled in San Francisco where he worked for several electric companies and served on the board of directors of the San Francisco Board of Trade.
