Biography

The United States provided five of the six finalists for the high hurdles in the 1912 Olympics. Martin Hawkins of the Multnomah AC of Portland, Oregon, barely edged John Case out of third place as the U.S. swept the first four places. Hawkins later became a lawyer, then a judge, and in 1940 was elected to the circuit court.
