Biography

Steve Lacy was a middle-distance runner who ran the 5,000 metres at the 1984 Olympics, although he was best known as a miler. He ran in college at the University of Wisconsin, placing third in the 1,500/mile in 1976 and 1978. Lacy won the TAC Meet in 1980 in the 1,500. He also competed internationally at the 1977 Universiade. He was US ranked four times consecutively in the 1,500 from 1977-80, ranking #2 in 1978 and 1980.

Lacy became an architect, starting Steve Lacy Designs in Madison, Wisconsin. He also did work in software consulting for architects and engineers.

Personal Bests: 800 – 1:47.45 (1980); 1500 – 3:33.99 (1980); Mile – 3:43.7i (1979); 2 miles – 8:24.93i (1982); 5000 – 13:27.72 (1984); 10000 – 29:17.98 (1985); 3000S – 9:26.3 (1977).
