Biography

On 7 June 1919, Sherman Landers ran on relay team for the University of Pennsylvania that set world record at both 4x110y and 4x220y. The 4x110y record was the first IAAF-approved world record for that distance. Landers was a versatile athlete, winning the AAU title in the triple jump in 1919-20, and in the pole vault in 1916. He also competed for the Chicago AA.
