Biography

Fred Moloney competed in the 100 m and the 110 m and 200 m hurdles at the 1900 Olympics, but he qualified only for the final of the high hurdles, where he took the bronze medal. His brother, William Moloney, also competed in Paris, and qualified for the final of the 400 m but did not contest it because it was held on a Sunday. Fred Moloney registered at the University of Chicago various times between 1898 and 1907 but never completed work for a degree. He later became the vice president and general manager of the Helios Corp. in Ottawa, Illinois. The Moloney brothers’ father was Maurice Moloney, a former Illinois Attorney General.
