Biography

John Murphy won the high jump at the 1921-22 NCAA and the 1919-20 AAU Meets. He was also runner-up in the high jump at the 1921 AAU, and finished sixth in the 1925 high hurdles. His victory at the 1920 AAU put him on the Olympic team as it also doubled as the US Olympic Trials. Murphy competed for Notre Dame and the Multnomah AC. Murphy later worked as a rural letter carrier.
