Biography

Gaston Strobino came to America from Italy as a young boy. In 1912 he represented the South Paterson AC in New Jersey, but did not qualify for the American Olympic team. He was only added to the team after paying his own expenses to Stockholm; he proved to be one of the surprises of the Games with his bronze medal. He made his living as a machinist. Strobino served in World War I in the 9th Infantry Division.

Personal Best: Marathon – 2-38:43 (1912).
