Biography

As a senior at Redmond High School in Oregon, Arthur Tuck competed in 13 events at the state championships, winning the 100, 220, high hurdles, high jump, discus, javelin, and shot put, and finished second in the long jump, winning the state title for his high school single-handedly. Tuck competed for the University of Oregon and the Multnomah AC. In college he also threw the discus and in 1921 set Pacific Coast Conference records for both throws.

In the AAU javelin, Tuck finished third in 1919 and fifth in 1920. The 1920 AAU doubled as the Olympic Trials and his fifth-place finish put him on the Olympic Team. After college Tuck and his brother worked in highway construction. He then briefly spent time as an Oregon state game warden, but later joined the Oregon State Police Force.
