Biography

The New Yorker, William Frank, had a rather undistinguished record at home, but in Athina he was always up with the leaders and was in second place until he was passed a few miles from the stadium, winning a bronze medal. Frank also ran the 5-mile race at the 1906 Olympics. Frank was born in Germany but emigrated to the United States where he lived in Queens, New York. He worked at first as a chauffeur but was later a foreman for the New York Sanitation Department in Queens.
